Early June, 2010. Wow! It's hard to believe this is the same dog who came to us just over a month ago. She has really blossomed, and she is doing GREAT now! Best of all, she'll be going to her forever home soon thanks to MBR. Want to help us save other dogs like Sophie? Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to MBR using our online Donation Form.
WE ARE THRILLED THAT SOPHIE HAS GONE TO HER FOREVER HOME! Please visit our adoptables page for other dogs who are available for adoption.
Early May, 2010. Poor little Sophie. She came to us from a Michigan shelter at the beginning of May. This sweetheart arrived at the shelter COVERED with ticks!! She must have come from a state in the deep south because we are just starting into spring here and there are no ticks here ... yet.
At only nine months old, Sophie is also Heartworm Positive! This sweet baby was subjected to being spayed and then the next day, Heartworm Treatment began! The vet the shelter uses chose this course of treatment.
Sophie is just skin and bones as you can see below. She also has ear infections and Whipworms! Shortly after arriving into her foster home she ran a 104 degree fever and had tremors and stopped eating. The next day with the help of steroids and another round of antibiotics she was feeling better. X-rays have shown that her lungs are very inflamed.
Please send healing thoughts her way!! You can see in her eyes that she feels just miserable.
Sophie is WHY we do the WADDLE!! Her veterinary bills have already exceeded $700.00 in just her first week with MBR. Unfortunately, there will be others just like her needing us to save their lives this coming year!! We NEED you to participate in next weekend's Waddle fundraiser!!
Can't attend the Waddle? Use our Donation Form to make a tax-deductible donation. We NEED your pledges! Sophie and her basset buddies NEED your support!! |
