MBR's
Adoption Agreement is as follows:
- Adopting
person(s) must be homeowners and have a fenced
in yard or in some cases an invisible fence may be deemed appropriate
in certain situations; However, it will depend on
the "rescue" dogs that are currently in our care
at the time whether an invisible fence is acceptable. Absolutely
no rescue will be permitted to be adopted that involves them
being staked or chained when outside. These requirements are
to insure the over all health and well being of our rescues.
- Adopting
person(s) will not permit the "rescue" dog
to run free or off leash or out of immediate control.
- Adopting
person(s) will provide indoor sleeping quarters for the "rescue" dog.
- Adopting
person(s) agrees that the "rescue " dog will be provided
with adequate food, fresh water, exercise, veterinary care,
yearly inoculations and heart worm preventative as recommended
by attending veterinarian. The "rescue' dog must be licensed
in accordance to all state and local laws.
- Adopting
person(s) agrees that "rescue" dog will at all times,
wear a buckle collar with current Rabies tag and Basset Rescue
ID tag.
- Adopting
person(s) will notify Michigan Basset Rescue immediately if
the"rescue" dog becomes lost or stolen.
- Adopting
person(s) will notify MBR prior to any change of address.
- Adopting
person(s) will keep the "rescue" Basset Hound and
will not transfer the ownership to any other person,
firm or organization without first obtaining the written consent
of Michigan Basset Rescue. If Michigan Basset Rescue
deems the new ownership unacceptable then the "rescue" Basset
Hound is to be relinquished to MBR immediately.
- Adopting
person(s) takes the "rescue" dog as is with all defects,
either observable or unobservable, and assumes full risk for
the dog from the date of signing of this agreement. However,
the MBR goes to great lengths to provide both care and physical
condition and temperament evaluation of each Basset Hound that
is accepted into Michigan Basset Rescue, and every possible
effort is made to provide a "rescue" dog which is
compatible with adopting person(s) home; however, no warranty
is given to the physical condition or temperament of a 'rescue" dog.
- As
of the date of this agreement, the Adopting person(s) assumes
responsibility for the "rescue" dog's actions and
shall hold Michigan Basset Rescue and its individual members FREE from
all claims for personal injury, injury to others, and/or property
damage associated with adopting one of our "rescue" dogs.

| What
is the age criteria for adopting to families with children?
We
at MBR love children; however we will only adopt to families
whose children are six years and older.
|
| What
type of evaluation is done with the rescue dogs?
Rescue
bassets are placed in a family situation with foster families.
This enables the MBR and their members to evaluate a "rescue" dogs
behavior, temperament, and characteristics in order to place
them in the correct home that will aid and benefit both the rescue
dog and its adopting family. Foster families are also there to
answer any questions that adopting families may need to help
make the transition as smooth as possible.

Does
MBR spay and neuter its rescues?
Rescued
bassets are spayed or neutered before being placed up for adoption.
Michigan Basset Rescue's sole responsibility is to find unwanted
basset hounds loving homes, not to help create even MORE unwanted
or neglected puppies.

| What

Our
adoption fees are:
The
adoption fee for bassets less than two years old: $250.00
Two
years to five years $200.00
Six

This
fee covers the mandatory spay/neutering, along with all the necessary
shots -- including rabies, the heartworm test and heartworm treatment
