Description:

Mabel is an 8.5 year old sweetie looking for a new home with a comfortable sofa. She's currently sharing a foster home with four basset brothers and a cat. She gets along well with all of the dogs, although we suspect she would be happy being an only dog too. She doesn't mind the cat, in fact she completely ignores him.

Mabel enjoys her food (what basset doesn't!) but shows absolutely no signs of food aggression. Her fosters can feed her around the other dogs, put their hands in her dish when she is eating, etc. with no issues.

Mabel is a very laid back dog. Her favorite activity is sleeping on the sofa. If you would prefer to not have your pet on the furniture, she is not the one for you! She is also a little leery when it comes to flights of stairs, however a few stairs are just fine.

Mabel's best features: She is a great leash walker, great cuddler, not drooly (for a basset hound), has spectacular wrinkles (we're pretty sure she has enough skin for a large basset and dachshund or two), beautiful large ears, and a great napping companion (o.k., she does snore a bit). Plus she is completely housetrained.

Mabel's idea of a perfect forever home: Good snuggling companion or two, good belly rubber, comfortable sofa (as mentioned above), comfortable dog bed (for when she's too lazy to get up on the sofa), house with few stairs, and someone to fill her bowl a couple of times a day.

Mabel has not been exposed to small children in her foster home and given her age, she would most likely do best with children 12+ years.
