Name: Gus
Breed: Basset Hound
Age: 2 Years
Sex: Male

Description:

Hi, my name is Gus. I am a beautiful two year old neutered male basset with lots of "Gusto". I have all the advantages of a puppy without some of the added work. I am micro-chipped, up to date on immunizations, and very healthy.

Want to know more about me? Well here goes:

  • I am completely house trained (haven't had a single accident in my foster home).
  • I am not a chewer or destructive in any way.
  • I love to ride in the car.
  • I am perfectly happy to let you give me a bath or trim my nails.
  • I get along great with cats, children, and other dogs. I can get a little rambunctious with my play (I am a puppy after all) so I would do best in a home with children over 10 years old.
  • I am very eager to please, especially if I can earn a treat. My foster parents have been training me using dog kibbles as "treats" so I don't end up gaining 50 pounds.
  • I must be pretty smart because it only took me fifteen minutes to learn to sit, shake paw, and lie down!
  • I am very food motivated (what hound dog isn't). I am not aggressive around food. I just like to take every opportunity possible to snack.
  • I do like to counter cruise so the humans in the family need to be attentive to keeping things out of my reach.
  • I am presently working on improving my leash manners. I pull when I am on a leash. I'm just very excited to get wherever we are going.
  • I love to hop up on the sofa and bed. If you want a fellow who stays off the furniture I may not be your best choice.
  • I absolutely love human attention. I follow my foster dad around like a magnet.
  • I learned how to use a dog door in less than 90 seconds. I am not crated at all. I have full run of the house at all times with no problems (as long is there is no food near the edges of the counter).

I have been very good about staying in the yard at my foster home. I have a lot of energy and would really appreciate a forever home with people who will see that I can get plenty of daily exercise and love.
