Name: Ernie
Breed: Basset Hound
Age: 4 Years Old
Sex: Male

Description:

Ernie is an adorable four year old tri-colored basset who was rescued by MBR in his last days at the pound. He is microchipped, but his former owner did not want him back.

We believe Ernie was tied out in his previous life, and had weaker back legs, but they are getting better. He can climb on furniture and does stairs, though he does it slowly.

When Ernie came to MBR, he was VERY skinny and had a bad infection in his tail. After a few trips to the vet, some good nutrition and lots of loving, Ernie is doing much better.

Ernie has no agression towards people; you can even take food from his mouth. He has been around children as young as five and is very gentle. Ernie has become very protective over his foster people and has had a few acts of aggression towards their male basset. He likes to play with their female basset and has had no problems with her. Because of this, Ernie is best to either be an only dog or with a female. He doesn't even look twice at the cat.

He knows he is supposed to potty outside, however, doesn't tell you when he has to go. Therefor, if you see Ernie moving towards the door, you best follow him or else he will piddle by the door.

Ernie has no interest in toys, however, he loves a good rawhide. He can be fairly stubborn at times but is very food motivated and will do what you want for a treat. He will kennel, however, he's not a huge fan of it and has proven to be an escape artist from time to time with puppy gates.

At night, he is next to the bed and sleeps all night with no problems. He likes to go in the car and eventually falls asleep on longer trips. He loves affection and belly rubs and is a real cuddle bug!

Ernie will make someone a great family pet!
